Walled Lake Western’s Melanie Ortiz breaks a pair for of program records
Walled Lake Western freshman Melanie Ortiz etched her name in program history breaking a pair of records last week in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley.
Ortiz shattered the 200 IM record taking nearly two seconds off the previous mark of 2:11.71 set by Alexa Hieber in 2021. Ortiz swam a blazing fast time of 2:09.84.
Ortiz also took down Hieber’s 100 Freestyle record (53.88) from 2021 with a new best of 53.34.
