Walled Lake Western National Honor Society students collect over 7,500 books for Making Spirits Bright
Walled Lake Western’s National Honor Society gave the gift of literacy during the holiday season collecting 7,587 books during their Blizzard of Books Drive.
On Thursday, December 21, they loaded up a trailer in front of the school donating all of those books to Making Spirits Bright, which is a non-profit dedicated to providing books to children in Metro Detroit. The books Walled Lake Western collected will be given to students at Bedford Elementary in Dearborn Heights. Each student will receive a dozen books thanks to the Warriors’ incredible efforts.
Making Spirits Bright also has a library of gently used books at The Rail in Commerce, which is open on Saturday’s between 1-2 p.m. for Walled Lake Consolidated Schools’ students to check out books for free.
