Anna Murphy receives Gold Apple Award
Walled Lake Western English teacher, Anna Murphy, received a Golden Apple Award at the October 10, 2024 Board of Education meeting.
Murphy’s nominator wished to remain anonymous, but shared that she has the ability to connect with her students in meaningful ways, which is evident whenever you walk into her class. The energy her classes have reflects the positive culture Murphy has set.
“Anna's positive, growth mindset is an inspiration,” wrote the nominator. “She continues to have the enthusiasm of a new teacher after many successful years of teaching, and she believes that no matter where you are in your career, you’re never too experienced to keep learning new ways to become a better teacher.”
Murphy is always open to exploring new and innovative ways to improve her practice. Her willingness to continually challenge herself is evident in her continuous participation in district and building-level initiatives.
“Outside of the classroom, Anna’s humility shines as she quietly and selflessly saved a man from choking at a restaurant, an act of heroism that went unrecognized as she continued to prioritize others over personal recognition,” concluded her nominator.
